National Club Championships
NYSD interest in the National ended before May is done, as Richmondshire went down to a heavy home defeat to York. Duncan Snell led the visiting batters with 71, and there were solid contributions throughout the order as York posted an imposing 247/6 in 40 overs. A couple of wickets each for spinners Caleb Bradford and Shafi Ghafari, but the latter was treated harshly, conceding 70 runs in his 8 overs. Set a D/L target of 239 in 38 overs to win after weather, the start was solid enough with Rob Carr (33) and Gary Pratt (34), but only Joe White (34) was able to add anything significant, and the innings wilted somewhat to finish at 162 in the 33rd over. Harry Sullivan took 3-22 for the visitors and David Brent enjoyed life on the road to pick up 3-33.
National Village Cup
Wolviston entered the competition at this stage and, despite only making 122 all out in the 27th over when they visited Evenwood, that was enough for a 37-run win. 4-16 from Kieran Petch for Evenwood put the Wolviston innings in disarray and 34 from Muhammed Uddin was the only significant score for the visitors. At 60/1 after the break it looked grim for the NYSD outfit with Lewis Leng on 35, but the Wolves found a matchwinner in Azhar Isane, whose 7 overs produced 6-21 and booked a clash with Sacriston on June 8th.
Kerridge Cup
The league’s flagship cup competition got fully underway on Monday with the last 16 round completed, and there were a couple of belters.
Stokesley eliminated Richmondshire just as they did in 2024 – in a thriller. Jonny Weighell starred with 89 in a Stokesley total of 221/8 at Hurgill Road, to which elder brother Andrew added 36. Jake Percival took 3-46 for the hosts and then Gary Pratt opened the reply with 33, and the Richmond effort saw solid contributions, rather than match winning ones, whilst Stokesley kept nicking wickets. Shafi Ghafari appeared as though he may have played the trump card, with a 37-ball 47 and the Dalesmen were 194/5 with 5 overs remaining. Enter Sam Wilson. Brought into the attack for the 36th over, he dismissed Ghafari with his 3rd delivery and went to take 4-7 in 2.3 overs as Richmond were dismissed for 217 in the final over.

That 4-run margin of victory was repeated at Feethams, where Wolviston’s Pat Savarimuthu proved a match-winner, smashing an undefeated 92 from 76 balls (8 x 4, 6 x 6) to elevate the visitors’ total to 236/9 in 40 overs. F Uddin had earlier made 41, with 4-41 in 8 overs from Liam Burgess the stand out for the Quakers. James Sutton’s 58 anchored the reply, but they never quite got into full control and Savarimuthu picked up a couple of wickets towards the end, including defending 10 from the final over.
Wolviston’s prize will be a quarter final trip to holders Barnard Castle, who eased past Bishop Auckland. Brandon Lusk’s excellent 2025 continued with 58 and Callum Oldfield added 39, but Barney pro Shubham Sharma proved miserly with the pink ball to return 3-18 in 8 overs and Finn Usher weighed in with 3-40. Bishop youngster Fin Barlow removed Usher and James Quinn for ducks on his way to 3-37 in 8 overs but, from 28/3, Karl Carver and Rich Borrowdale first steadied the ship, and then went full steam ahead to win without further loss with 10 overs in hand. Borrowdale made 45* but Carver starred with 105* from 90 balls including 12 fours and three sixes.
Guisborough’s Sam Spenceley certainly seems to like facing a pink ball. Without a significant score in Division One this year, Monday saw Spenceley record his second consecutive Kerridge Cup ton of 2025, a magnificent 141* from 116 balls at Marske. 18 fours and 3 sixes helped the Priorymen to 255/7 in 40 overs, despite 5-48 from John Mains. 39* from Noah Payne was the best Marske could muster in a chase that never really threatened with Joe Ellison taking 4-29 in 7 overs. The 42-run win will see Guisborough travel to local rivals Great Ayton in the quarters.
Ayton despatched Division One opposition in Normanby Hall with pro Suminda Lakshan continuing to show a liking for the NYSD, top scoring with 70 in a home total of 231/8, Brad Freer adding 45. Nadeem Asif took 4-28 for Normanby and then added 42 in the reply, but Lakshan (3-24) and Steve Pennock (3-41) had by then done enough damage to negate 49 from Alfie Street. Normanby finished on 187 all out in the 39th over.
Scott Borthwick’s 75-ball 100* at Park Drive emphasised a great top order effort as Hartlepool defeated Darlington RA by 28 runs. Harry Wiles (56) and Harsha Vithana (47) supported Borthwick as Pool made 250/3. Sachithra Serasinghe (47), Parth Palawat (44) and Matthew Pillans (50) gave of their best, but wickets from Max Jackson (3-45) and Matty Baggs (4-58) took out RA for 222 in the 37th over.
Sam Parry’s 76 led the way for Saltburn to reach 249/8 at Norton, with support from Gareth Shaw (32) and a late 34* from Ollie Stewart. Kenzie Peakman collected 4-30 in 8 overs for the hosts. Norton were never in the hunt, 46 from Ben Duncan taking the score to 163/9 having been 85/8 at one stage. Husnain Bukhari took 3-23 in his 8 overs.

In the other game, Marton took a comfortable win over Middlesbrough at the Parkway. Ryan Gibson’s 46 was top score in 180 all out as Boro’s Abdaar Ishaq (3-30) and Fez Hussain (4-25) brought an early end to the home innings. James Lowe added 49 to a couple of earlier wickets, but the visitors always looked second in the chase, and Lee Hodgson finished matters with 4-14, Boro all out for 109.
The quarter finals are scheduled for Sunday 8th June and the games are: –
Stokesley v Hartlepool
Marton v Saltburn
Great Ayton v Guisborough
Barnard Castle v Wolviston
Premier Division
Five wins from six games have allowed Stockton to establish a 20-point lead at the head of the Division, with no other side having won more than three. Though their opponents on Saturday – Darlington RA – have been perfect at home, it has been a very different story away from Brinkburn Road and they fared badly at the Close Protection Security ground. Callum Buckley made an even 50 but otherwise it was the bowling of Spencer Nicholson (3-52), James Ward (3-14) and Chris Hooker (3-18) in the driving seat. Adam Hickey made 36 against his previous club to open the Stockton reply and they erased the target of 127 for the loss of 4 wickets inside 30 overs.
A long trip to the coast proved to be a less than enjoyable day out for Barnard Castle, heavily defeated at Saltburn. Ben Ainsley (100) and Lucas Parry (82) shared a partnership of 153 for the second wicket to set the hosts on their way to a hefty total of 254/4. Finn Usher (3-63) was the most successful of the six visiting bowlers used, and his 49 was the feature of a Barney reply that never threatened. Liam Crooks (3-28) and Husnain Bukhari (5-28) bowled the Sharks to a 110-run win and a place back in the top four.
Stokesley also picked up a third win of the season, comfortably overcoming Hartlepool at Park Drive. Matthew Adamson (3-51) did some early damage to the Stokesley line-up, but Rob Atkinson (45) and later Harry Harding (65) took the visitors to 199 all out in the 48th over, Scott Borthwick (3-43) finding late success. Visiting skipper Fin Morris (5-45) made a mess of the home top order reducing them to 37/6 and wreaked havoc. Angus Catto made 34, but that only got Pool as far as 113 all out to complete a worryingly poor first quarter of the season for the hosts given their recruitment.

Josh Dowson (3-41) claimed a couple of early scalps for Richmondshire at Great Ayton before u-15 Alex Davis struck 9 fours in a 26-ball 42, and then pro Suminda Lakshan continued to make 75 to allow the hosts to reach 215 before their final wicket fell. Gary Pratt made 38, partnering with Dan Hodgson to overcome the loss of an early wicket and later Hodgson (78*) partnered with Shafi Ghafari (61* including six sixes) to take the Dalesmen to a six-wicket win.
Norton defeated Bishop Auckland by 7 wickets at Station Road to consign the visitors to the foot of the table. 3-23 from Ben Duncan put pressure on the Bishop batting and it took Dan Legge (37) and Matty Cowling (35*) to get them as far as 183 all out, 3-21 from the left arm spin of u-16 Teddy Minto finishing proceedings. From 28/2, u-17 Luke Symington (60) and Joe Emmerson (81*) added 150 for the third wicket to settle matters.
The day’s only draw was at Acklam Park after Marton posted 290/7 declared in 49 overs. All the visiting top five batters passed thirty, with Jon Spillane (61) and Muhammad Irfan (84) in the starring roles. Harry Williams took 4-79 in 15 overs for the hosts. James Lowe (36) and Muhammad Basit (60) featured in the Boro response of 228/8, Sam Berry with 3-59 in 16 overs best of the Marton attack.

Division One
Marske retain the lead, but the margin has been reduced to seven points after they were defeated at home by Darlington. Imran Quereshi (37) and Jay Vine (33) made contributions up top, but it was 102* from Rameez Nawaz at number six that propelled the hosts to 232/9 from 50 overs. Nawaz struck eight fours and six sixes in the 89 balls he faced. Liam Burgess (3-63) and Jack Atkinson (3-39) found most success for the Quakers with the ball. The successful chase revolved around a second wicket partnership of 167 between Liam Coates (94) and Nathan Wright (69). Vine (3-68) tried to put the cat in the vicinity of the pigeons, but u-17 Owen Harwood (38*) once again guided his side home, with 4 wickets in hand from the penultimate ball.

Billingham remain second after an equally impressive chase at Thornaby, and they have played a game fewer than Marske. Harvey Spaxman (45), Noman Ashfaq (38) and Danny Clark (46) took the hosts to 230 all out in the 49th over, whilst Raj Atwaal (3-52) and Jack Riley (3-45) led the Billingham bowlers. Elliott Holmes (32) and Tonius Simon (52) spearheaded a solid visiting reply and, though Lewis Harper took 3-66, Synners were home by 3 wickets in the 43rd over.
Ben Swindale (59) and Connor Hetherton (38) contributed most to the Sedgefield cause at Bedale, but James Kelly (3-47) and Ben McCall (3-35) ensured that effort ended at 187 after 44 overs. Owen Kelly dominated the reply with an 82-ball 108 in an opening partnership of 181 with Sam Owen (54*) and the win was completed in just the 26th over to keep Bedale just 10 points from the head of the table.
A hefty 306/9 was the platform for Barnard Castle to collect a third win of the season, built around 73 from newly arrived Aussie amateur Zac Grundmann and 43 from Jack Mensforth. Richie Watson added 30 and the innings was also notable for a last wicket stand of 66 from Kyle Ibberson and Tom Brooks who both made 33* to push the total beyond 300. 3-50 in 8 overs from Seaton Carew u-15 Harvey Lowe was a creditable return in the circumstances. Seaton’s Jonny Mee made 68 after the break, but his was a lone hand as Joss Warren took 4-40 and the visitors were dismissed for 179 in the 48th over.
Fellow promoted side Richmondshire picked up a welcome win, by 43 runs over Normanby Hall. u-16 Raam Raj made 53 and u-17 Max Percival 32 in a home total of 173, modest by Hurgill Road standards. Nadeem Asif took 5-36 and Matthew Rose 3-34 for the visitors, who were then reduced to 0/2 in the first over by Shaun Charlton (5-47) and, with the scoreboard once reading 16/5, Normanby succumbed for 130.
Wolviston defeated Guisborough at Armstrong Park, a win that may prove significant later in the season. Nathan Bell (40) and Martin Philpot (32) laid the foundation for the Priorymen to reach 182/9, as Oliver Jones (3-35) and Tahir Mahmood (4-38) helped the Wolves gain some control later in the innings. Philpot would lead his side with 4-67 in 15 overs, but Shoaib Khan (43) and Muhammed Uddin (41) were the significant contributors as the hosts won by 3 wickets with 4 overs to spare. Having lost five of six, Guisborough are now a worrying 34 points adrift at the foot of the table.
Division Two
The top two entering the weekend went head-to-head and hosts Rockliffe Park romped to an 8-wicket win to take over the Saturday leadership. James Layfield-Carroll (3-18), Mark Swanwick (3-40) and Flynn Taylor (3-25) bowled out Saltburn for 121 and the opening pair Matty Wheeler (33) and u-14 Xavier Lockey (43*) set Park on their way.
Stockton moved second with a similarly comfortable win at Redcar. Tom Gaffney took 3-31 as the hosts could only muster 132 all out and then Matthew Everson made 75* in a 7-wicket win. Ian Patchett (3-47) was the sole successful Redcar bowler.
A third consecutive win boosted Northallerton in the table, with success over Shildon at Farndale Avenue. 58 from Will Goldsmith and 30+ contributions from Noah Wilson and the Clarkson brothers took Town to 227 all out. Cordie McKendry took 3-78 and Carl Crabtree 5-22 to cause a home collapse from 201/4. Greg Upton typically made a run a ball 67 and Stephen Forster 33, but Shildon also collapsed after a solid start and were undone for 140, 5-31 from Clint Wolverson making his Northallerton mark after a recent move from Norton.
Alistair Raper (5-18) and u-15 Syed Haque (3-28) saw Hartlepool sent back for 120 at Feethams before Steven Bell (51*) and Matty Harwood (56*) sealed a 9-wicket win for Darlington with an unbroken stand of 104.
It was a day to bowl first in the third tier, and Whitby bowlers Tom Steyert (5-22) and Chris Knight (4-45) limited Norton to 109 all out at the Turnbull Ground. Knight top scored with 33 in Whitby’s welcome 8-wicket win.
Marton completed the set of successful Saturday chasers, defeating Middlesbrough by 6 wickets. Joey Snow made an even 50 out of 168/9 for Boro, but Paul Vaughan (55) and u-15 Louis Veazey (38) put the hosts in control of the chase.
Monday’s lone game saw Boro host Darlington and u-16 spinner Jack Glenton took 5-47 in 15 overs to limit the hosts to 175 all out in the 46th over. Tom Park-Bradley made a top-scoring 40 in reply, but David Armitage (3-50) and Andrew Taylor (3-46) applied pressure, and it needed 32* from u-16 Alfie Spensley to see Darlington home by 2 wickets. The Quakers end the Bank Holiday top of the Division by a solitary point as a result, though with seven games played rather than six.
Division Three
Though Stokesley still head the table, they have only won two from seven and Newton Aycliffe and Maltby both scored a fourth win in six to close right up in second and third.
Aycliffe took maximum points at Normanby Hall after an undefeated 111 from stalwart Chris Palmer led them to 224/6, 102 of those added in conjunction with opener Terence Smit (68). Amr Karim (55) and Kasim Akhtar (50) hit their stride after the break, but Ramzan Hussain took 3-7 to finish off Normanby for 160.
Matty Douglas (3-21) and Charlie Lythgoe (3-37) took out Guisborough for 137 and an unbroken 3rd wicket partnership of 104 between Anthony Newton (42*) and Douglas (52*) saw Maltby home by 8 wickets at Fountains Garth.
Tom Kendrew made 57 in the Stokesley effort of 242/7 at home to Rockliffe Park and, though Joe Burniston took 3-53, Gary Lee (53) and Stuart Pounder (41) saw Park to 177/7. Stokesley score heavily and quickly, but they may need to reassess how to collect wins if they wish to reach Division Two.
Mike Muldowney made 54 for Thornaby at Yarm, but Harry Wilkinson (4-33) helped restrict the visitors to 137 all out/ Alex Dunne made 34* in a 5-wicket home win.
Will Richardson (41) and Chris Clarkson (40) set Whitby on the way to 175 all out at Sedgefield, George Hampson (3-54) and u-16 Josh Southeran (3-19) among the wickets for the hosts. Opener David Lamb carried his bat for 54, but had little support, Ricky Hall nabbing 4-10 in an 83-run win for the Seasiders.
On Monday Whitby hosted Normanby Hall, whose first team were in Kerridge action. The 9 players the visitors could must took first use and would make 58 all out as Ricky Hall took another 3-10, though the instance of 81-year-old Ken Thwaites batting with a 12-year-old for Normanby will not have occurred much in NYSD history! Whitby inevitably won by 9 wickets. Record-breakers (sic) and Mike Amos be aware!!
Division Four
It was a double weekend for most in Division Four and Billingham recorded a brace of victories to continue to set the pace.
Monday’s 8-wicket win over Marske contained a remarkable analysis as leg-spinner Jack Riley took 7 wickets without conceding a run in the four overs he bowled. The Marske innings fell apart from 49/1 to 53 all out.
On Saturday Preston’s Waqas Khalid scored 96 out of 160 all out – 4 wickets each for Martin Cull and Jonathan Langstaff – before an undefeated 53 from Haider Ramzan kept Synners’ record going.
Billingham have been neck and neck with Skelton Castle, who didn’t have a Bank Holiday Monday game, but they beat Bedale on Saturday despite only carding 103 all out. George Nicholson took 4 wickets for the visitors, but 3 from Sam Malbon-Green saw them slump from 25/1 to 26/6 and 41 was as many as Bedale could manage.
Better news on Monday for Bedale though, an undefeated 66 from Stephen Pratt saw them overtake Bishop Auckland’s 132/7 for the loss of only 1 wicket.
Having eased past Northallerton at Farndale Avenue 10 days prior it was a markedly different Town outfit that showed up at Richmond School for the return and 68 from Christiaan Bourbon-Leftley featured in 170/9 in 40 overs. U-17 Jack Platt then starred for the Dalesmen. Having collected a couple of scalps, Platt made 111* striking 19 fours and, in conjunction with u-16 Raam Raj (53*), Richmond won by 10 wickets in the 36th over.
Northallerton had picked up a win of their own on Saturday when Toby Gardner (4-17) and Finn Ellis (3-23) bowled out Newton Aycliffe for 89 en route to a 9-wicket win (u-16 Alfie Haw 46*), and Maltby’s Philip Thompson (4-18) and James Henderson (6-14) repeated the punishment for Aycliffe on Monday, Maltby prevailing by 8 wickets.
Maltby themselves lost on Saturday when, despite half centuries from Richard Roberts and Chris Francis, Wolviston’s Mohammed Nazir made 84* as they erased the hosts’ 170/6 with 9 wickets to spare. The Wolves’ game at Preston on Monday was drawn, featuring half centuries from Mohammed Ayub (66) and Gav Buckley (60*) before Wajid Hussain replied with 62*.
Darlington RA and Yarm were others with just one game, and the former beat the latter by 5 wickets at Brinkburn Road on Saturday.
Sunday Divisions
Premier
Norton made it 100 points from a possible 100 with a 133-run win over Normanby Hall. u-17 trio Charlie Hart (55), Niall Pinnell (41) and Archie Fawcett (40) took Norton to 194/6 before the bowling battalion ran through Normanby for 61.
Having played two more games, Hartlepool are the table toppers. David McAllister (56), u-16 Patrick Curtis (63*) and u-15 Layton Prosser (76) got Pool to 250/7 declared at home to Darlington RA. Experience in the form of John Fitzpatrick (3-11) and Izzy Hussain (3-24) took out the RA for 130, Lee Hutton undefeated on 64.
Marton beat Wolviston to move second. Mudassar Ayub made 42, but Ines Blackwell took 3-39 and the Wolves were restricted to 165/9. Mark Green (44) and u-15 Alfie Hodgkinson (49) set the chase up, and later it got a little wobbly before Marton crossed the line eight down.
Rashid Hassan took 5-26 but John Clark (42) and u-14 Bertie Morris (50) got Richmondshire to 206/8 at Feethams. u-14 Luke Frankland (46) and u-16 Harry Glenton (40) found form for Darlington who hung on at 180/9, with u-12 Louis Morris taking 3-25 for the visitors.
Northern Conference
All change once more as Billingham took over at the top, defeating Sedgefield in quick time. Luke Samuels (3-15) headed a 6-pronged attack that took out the Stallions for 84 and a swift 9-wicket win.
The previous leaders Stockton were handed defeat at Rockliffe Park, dismissed for 107 despite 42 from u-15 Theo Davison. U-15 Matty Watt (3-8) and u-14 Joe Brookes (3-24) did the damage before Riasat Swapnil (41), and Michael Allen (40) set park on the road to the win. 3-12 from Siva Prasanth Bommagani nicked a couple bowling points for the visitors.
A strengthened Northallerton put last week’s first Sunday defeat behind them, Joe Clarkson picking up 3-14 and striking 63* in a 9-wicket win over Bishop Auckland. James Randle added 4-19 to the Town bowling effort.
u-16 George Hawkins made 70 and Brad Sexton 60* as Thornaby made 199/7 at home to Yarm. There was 3-29 for u-17 Daksh Gaura and then u-17 team mate Harry Staggs made 74, but u-15 Adam Fowler (4-10) and u-16 Shaun Singh (3-3) turned 109/2 into 139 all out and Yarm were done.
u-16 Daniel Hall made 74 out of Hartlepool’s 196/6 at Barnard Castle, who were 116/6 after 25 overs when the elements intervened for the NYSD’s first “No Result” league game of 2025. U-14 Jake Goodhart made 56 of Barney’s runs.
Southern Conference
Tom Loughran made 53 and with Tom Kendrew (96*) on the verge of a third Sunday century of the season, Stokesley declared after 34 overs at Maltby with the score 241/5. The leaders got the timing right this week and bowled out Maltby for 129 with 3-5 from Alex Hadfield.
Skelton Castle are the pursuers, and they defeated Guisborough having declared on 191/7 at Fountains Garth. Daniel Belsham and u-17 Ben Malbon-Green both made 44 with Jay Pinchbeck claiming 4-33 for the hosts. Belsham added 3-19 as Castle won by 71 runs.
Whitby are the third club with four wins from six, the u-17 opening pair of Billy Blake (3-22) and Alex Fusco (3-36) doing damage to Saltburn, who were dismissed for 108. Charlie Parker was 53* in a 9-wicket win for the Seasiders.
u-14 Parker Lowe (3-18) and u-17 Fahad Haseeb (3-14) helped Middlesbrough bowl out Marske for 81, youngster Lowe then adding to the *Dad-and-Lad* nature of club cricket with a promising undefeated 38 in a 7-wicket win.
u-15 Matthew Collingwood (65*) and u-17 Joe Clark (52*) took Great Ayton to 183/3 at home to Marton, before Collingwood added 3-28 and Will Bibby 4-16 in a 53-run win for the hosts.
Junior League Round Up – Week ending Sunday 25th May – Kevin Moore
HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK – ELLIOTT “CRAFTILY” TAKES THREE IN THREE.
In another action-packed week of junior cricket, Saltburn Thunder opening bowler Elliot Craft takes the highlight of the week with a hat-trick from his first three deliveries against Billingham. Bowling the second over of the innings against a strong wind Elliot clean bowled the batters each delivery to set his team on the road to victory. Elliot finished with a personal best analysis of 3-8 from the match.

U15 League and Cup
A busy week of U15 cricket with both cup competitions beginning followed by a weekend of league games where the decision of the coin toss was randomly consistent by division.
At Feethams visitors Richmondshire chose to field first. Darlington posted 123-6, largely thanks to Luke Frankland’s retired unbeaten 50. Dan Crowther claimed 4-6 for the visitors. Richmondshire passed the required total with just over an over to spare.
At Northallerton, visitors Seaton Carew also choose to bowl first. Northallerton posted 95, as Eliash Willis recorded back-to-back league fifties, this week’s 53* including eight boundaries. Henry Riches took 3-25 for Seaton. In reply, Joe Smith top scored with 22 for Seaton as they ended on 84-9, the wickets shared amongst the home bowling attack.
In the Central League it was a bat first day if the coin was in your favour. Sedgefield amassed 140-1 away to Hartlepool. Oliver Mansfield 50*, Lucas Barton 34* and Ben Simpson 31 kept the scorers busy. After the break Layton Prosser (50* retired) shared stands of 47 with Mehdi Ali (38) and 51 with Evie Semple (13) to help set up a six-wicket win.
At Marton it was the home side that got the luck of the coin, piling up 179-1 in the allocated overs, Louis Veazey (50*) and Alfie Hodgkinson (53*) setting up a formidable total. Wolviston replied with 79-7, Liam Champion (2-4) and Thenuka De Alwis (2-13) having productive stints with ball in hand.
Yarm posted 122-9 at home to Norton. Then Harry Ripley took out the Norton middle order leaving them 99 all out, Ripley claiming the final wicket to return figures of 5-16.
The East Division was another bowl first section. Great Ayton retain their 100% start to 2025, after asking hosts Middlesbrough to bat. Boro reached an even 100 for the loss of six wickets, with contributions throughout the innings. Matthew Collingwood (29) and opener Johnny Hudson (23) set up the successful chase and a six wicket win with nine balls in hand.
Guisborough posted 121-4 at Maltby, including 27* from Jake Hill and 25 from Cole Hood. In reply Pratyush Partha retired unbeaten on 53, along with 30 from Jack Atkinson ensured a nine wicket win with overs in hand.
At Marske Normanby Hall put on 120-8 with Thomas Cunningham top scoring with 30. Alec Gray (2-18), Sam Kennedy (2-21) and Oscar Metcalf (2-28) all having success with the ball. Marske replying with 83-5, Kennedy top scoring with 29.
Earlier in the week Marske and Normanby Hall also met in the first set of Chester Cup matches. Normanby posting 145-3, Thomas Cunningham making 40 and Muhammed Khalil Asif 39. Marske’s reply was 78-9, Thomas Sigsworth (3-14).
In the Greaves Cup Stockton restricted visitors to 88-8 largely thanks to Freddie Parr’s 4-9. In reply Stockton reached victory by five wickets, Iman Ali Khan top scoring with 25. Ben Wright (2-15) and Ollie Mosley (2-30) making the chase challenging for the home batters.
Skelton Castle hosted Great Ayton. The home side made 123-6 batting first, contributions came from Seth Hodgson 43, Ethan Buchanan 28 and Harry Dobson 26, Ross Grimbley returning 3-26. Ayton opener James Findlay (44) shared stands with Harry Wright (30) and 62 with Matthew Collingwood 36* to see a seven-wicket win arrive in the 16th over.
Middlesbrough batted first after travelling up to Park Drive. A team effort saw them post 105-7. In reply, after a good opening stand from Layton Prosser (30) and Mehdi Ali (27) any potential Boro threat was seen off by a rapid 25* from Sam Blakey as Hartlepool won by five wickets.
U13 League and Cup
A busy week of league action for all. In the West Division, Darlington posted 109/8 at home to Richmondshire Scorchers, James Binks hitting an unbeaten 30, Scorchers’ George Madden returned an impressive analysis of 3 wickets for just 2 runs.
