North Wales Results Round Up Week 17

In the latest North Wales Cricket Results, Premier Division – Mochdre’s Will Evans hits career best 161, title rivals Bangor and Brymbo both victorious

The title race will go down to the final Saturday of the season – with realistically Bangor and Brymbo battling it out to finish top.

After today’s matches, which saw both chief contenders winning, Bangor have 278 points from 17 matches, while the Steelmen are on 268 from 17.

If Bangor win their final game at St Asaph next Saturday, they lift the Premier title for a fifth time and the first occasion since 2019.

However, if the Citizens lose and Brymbo are victorious the Wrexham-area club will be crowned champions for the first time since the North Wales Cricket League became an accredited ECB Premier League in 2001.

Brymbo are home to relegated Conwy in their last league game.

If both the top two lose next weekend, Bangor will finish up champions.

There is a mathematical alternative which could end with reigning title holders Mochdre finishing level on points with Bangor, but with all due respect, such a scenario is a massive long-shot.

Bangor (18) 123-2 Gwersyllt Park (1) 119-10

Leaders Bangor stayed on course for a first Premier Division title in six years with a comfortable eight-wicket success over Gwersyllt Park at Ty Newydd.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Park were dismissed for just 119, West Indian opener Kastun Stoute saving them from a worse fate with a defiant 62.

Menai Bridge (2) 132-10 Brymbo (13) 137-3

Renowned for their big scores at home, Saturday was not such an occasion for Menai Bridge as they slumped to 132 all out against title-chasing Brymbo.
