Barnards Green pulled off the shock of the day as they put league leaders Halesowen to the sword at North End Lane.
Bowlers Chris Steele and Ben Clarke did the damage, having their visitors all out for 191, taking eight wickets between them. Former Herefordshire ace Steele took 4-50 from 15 overs while Worcestershire prospect Clarke finished with 4-36 from his 17 overs.
Josh Dickenson (2-29) claimed the others while top scorer for Halesowen was skipper Wes Griffiths who reached 55 before becoming one of Steele’s victims.
When Hasan Mahmood took out the Barnards Green openers in quick succession, the home side were on 48/2 but Oliver Halion (51) and George Rhodes (51) put on 102 for the next wicket to put the hosts back on track. It was a close call in the end but the Worcestershire side reached 192/8 in the 56th over.
Barnt Green are now just a point adrift of the leaders after they claimed a winning draw at Wolverhampton, helped by some impressive batting from the top order.
Opener Henry Cullen led the way with 129 off 117 deliveries and he was involved in a 101-run opening wicket partnership with Ed Pollock (68) before putting on 167 for the next wicket with Herefordshire’s Ben Chapman-Lilley (87). Their efforts helped the visitors reach 372/8 with William Jones being the pick of the bowlers on his way to 4-99.
Harpreet Singh Brar then claimed 3-28 from 17 tidy overs to restrict Wolverhampton but they held on to reach 189/7 led by a useful 73 from Reeve Evitts.
Shrewsbury were the only other winners in the top division, easing to a nine-wicket victory at home to Ombersley who were skittled out for just 121. Zimbabwean quickie Dustin Melton led the way with 5-40 with Sam Whitney taking 4-36 and Will Jenkins snaffling the other wicket. Luke Powell was the only batsman to offer any resistance as he chalked up 50 runs before being trapped lbw by Melton.
In reply, Shrewsbury cantered to victory with George Hargrave unbeaten on 56 and Will Parton on 38no.
There were half-centuries for Ajay Shingadia (69) and Amrit Basra (50) as Berkswell had the better of their draw with visitors Harborne.
Theo Wylie added a useful 48 to take the home side to 248/8 with their opponents then being restricted to 174/6, former Warwickshire fast bowler Ryan Sidebottom taking three wickets. Struggling Moseley held on to claim a losing draw at Smethwick where a 140-run partnership between Hishamm Khan (79) and Mahsen Mohamed Narvel (89) proved vital.
Their hosts posted 293/8 inspired by an excellent 147 off 115 balls from Deepak Khatri while Eesa Nadeem and Yadvinder Singh each picked up three wickets. Khatri then took 5-56 to have Moseley in all sorts of trouble but they held on to reach 266/9 at the end of their overs.
Three wickets apiece for Ollie Walker and Connor Smith helped Himley to a winning draw at home to Knowle & Dorridge for whom Alex Phillips top scored with 67 out of 181/9. All-rounder Walker had previously struck 68 as the hosts reached 187/9 from their 55 overs.

Basement boys Handsworth picked up a vital victory, seeing off visitors Shifnal by two wickets. Handsworth lost in-form opener Montcin Hodge early in their reply but Sayf Hosein (39) and Kasjuan Sullivan (37) kept the scoreboard ticking over and they were able to total 145 for the loss of eight wickets.
Tamworth’s match at Kidderminster finished in a draw, the hosts claiming the bulk of the points thanks to a fine innings from Joseph Harrison (119) and Nathan Jukes (78), the pair putting on 189 for the third wicket.
Chasing their hosts’ 292, Tamworth were reduced to 18/2 before Scott Daly (52) and Jason Jakeman (81) put on 133 for the next wicket. There was also a useful 53-run knock from Alex Cappelluti to take the visitors to 270/8 at the end of their overs with Dan Lategan (4-63) the pick of the bowlers.
