New Farnley (20pts) bt Jer Lane (2pts) by 8 wickets
Full Scorecard |
New Farnley equalled the Premier Division record for the most points in a season with a comprehensive victory over a disappointing Jer Lane at Park Avenue.Â
Winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Jer Lane’s top order struggled mightily against the visitor’s opening pacers of Abhay Negi and Alex Lilley. After 15.2 overs, the hosts were 40-3 with skipper Lilley picking up two of the three wickets to fall. By halfway they had crawled to 75-4, struggling to up the rate against first change bowlers Fletcher Coutts and Adam Ahmed.
Ahsan Bhatti and Sam Johnson did their best to try and push on when Coutts was replaced by Gurman Randhawa, reaching 100-4 before two wickets in two balls from Randhawa triggered a spectacular collapse. Randhawa bowled Johnson and then trapped Raqeeb Younas LBW for a golden duck. From that point on the innings completely imploded as Ahmed and Randhawa combined to take the last four wickets in the space of 26 balls. In all, the hosts lost their last six wickets for just three runs over 28 balls.
With New Farnley’s batting lineup, it was always a question of when they would chase down the meagre total, rather than if. Muhammad Aamir was able to remove both openers just as they were getting settled, but they were not cheap as the visitors had already scored 67 runs by that point. Ryan McKendry was cautious as he picked up the 16 runs he needed to reach 1,000 runs for the season before reverting to his more distinctive attacking style to hit Amir Hussain and Hamzah Iqbal for two fours and three sixes to secure victory in the 23rd over.
Jer Lane, after topping the table briefly four games into the season, have now dropped to eighth going into the final week of the season. Should they lose to Cleckheaton next week, there is still a possibility of finishing as low as 10th, which would be a big disappointment for a side that was aiming for a title challenge. New Farnley now just have second placed Townville to beat at the Barry Jackson Ground to secure a remarkable unbeaten season.
Townville v Baildon | |
Toss won by: Baildon | |

Townville 299-6 (50 overs) | Baildon 202ao (47.3 overs) |
Jonny Booth 100 | Hector Bowerman 53 |
Jack Hughes 68 | Seif Hussain 47 |
Conor Harvey 57 | Jack Hughes 5-33 |
Mathew Lumb 3-32 | |
Townville (20pts) bt Baildon (5pts) by 97 runs
Full Scorecard |
Townville go into that final game against the champions in red-hot form as they eased to victory against a resilient Baildon side.Â
Anchored by a century from skipper Jonny Booth, Townville racked up the runs after electing to bat first. Despite losing opener Abdul Wahid cheaply early on, Booth and Jack Hughes built an excellent 144-run partnership from 163 balls.
Booth reached his century from 133 balls with a single from the last delivery of the 42nd over. He would not add further to that score as he was caught two balls later off Kevin McDermott. His dismissal brought cup final hero Conor Harvey to the crease, with a platform set perfectly for another of his well-renowned explosive cameos.
Harvey hit his first two balls faced for six off Seif Hussain before taking his replacement Abdullah Ijaz for two fours and another six to motor to 32 from his first 11 balls. He took Ijaz’s next over for another four and two more maximums – the last of which took him to his half century – scored in just 17 deliveries.
He would only manage one more four as Mcdermott and Will Smith managed to quiet him for two overs before Harvey holed out to Smith off McDermott in the 49th over. Despite one six from Dulaj Ashen in the final over, Townville ended one run short of 300 but full of confidence in their ability to defend such a strong total.
Baildon’s openers were able to see off the opening spell of Harvey with no alarm as the reached 63-0 after 11 overs. But Hughes was too much for McDermott to handle and he was trapped LBW two balls later.
Opening partner Hector Bowerman remained solid at one end but saw the spin of Ashen, Hughes and Mattie Race keep chipping away with wickets at the other as the visitors slid to 100-4 just after Bowerman reached his half century. Hughes prized him out three overs later, stumped by Jack Allman and any realistic hopes of Baildon chasing the total down was gone. Seif Hussain did his best to be positive with a knock of 47 but Hughes and Mathew Lumb were able to keep taking wickets to stall any positive momentum. Hussain was the eight wicket to fall and Lumb wrapped up the innings six overs later to secure victory.
Townville need victory over New Farnley next week or for Woodlands to not win against Carlton to secure second place, which would be a big coup for the side after they had tumbled to 8th after 14 games. Baildon’s fate had been sealed last week, but they can be proud of continuing to fight on and be competitive against one of the division’s strongest sides.
Pudsey St Lawrence v Woodlands
Toss won by: Woodlands | |
1st Innings | 2nd Innings |
Pudsey St Lawrence 224-9 (50 overs) | Woodlands 228-6 (46 overs) |
Josh Priestley 70 | Brad Schmulian 71* |
Charlie Best 36 | Elliot Richardson 37 |
Elliot Richardson 3-42 | Mosun Hussain 31 |
Brad Schmulian 3-46 | |
Woodlands (19pts) bt Pudsey St Lawrence (5pts) by 4 wickets
Full Scorecard |
Two excellent all-round performances from Brad Schmulian and Elliot Richardson were the difference as Woodlands overcame a stubborn Pudsey St Lawrence side at Tofts Road.Â
Winning the toss and choosing to field, the visitors made early inroads as Richardson and Muhammad Bilal kept breaking through defences to leave St Lawrence rocking at 28-3 in the 11th over.
Richardson sent Mark Robertshaw’s off stump cartwheeling with a snorter in the third over, before he took out Archie Scott’s leg stump in the 11th. One over prior to that, Bilal induced Ricky Priestley into an ill-judged leave to an inswinger and be bowled in the 10th. In his first eight overs, Richardson had the excellent figures of 8-4-9-2 as he made use of the pitch and conditions.
Josh Priestley was the main resistance for the home side, but he found some excellent support from Archie Phillipson and last week’s saviour Charlie Best to rebuild the innings to 160-6 when he was caught behind off Henry Pearson in the 39th over. Following his dismissal, senior pros Barrie Frankland (22) and Chris Marsden (25*) resisted with Best to score some late runs and push the total up to 224-9 at the end of 50 overs.
Woodlands’ reply started well with Sam Frankland and Mosun Hussain scoring 35 runs from the first five overs, including 22 off one over from Archie Phillipson where Hussain hit him for three sixes. Frankland then hit William Ellis for six with the first ball of the next over but the young bowler would have his revenge by trapping him LBW with the next delivery. His day then got even better in his next over as he removed the dangerous Hussain and the visitors were now 48-2 after 8 overs.
But while Schmulian is at the crease, Woodlands are nearly always favourites to chase down a total and he played an excellent unbeaten knock of 71 from 107 balls to keep the chase on track, even as Archie Scott removed Henry Pearson and Scott Richardson at the other end. It was his 70-run partnership with Elliot Richardson that really broke the back of the chasem with the usually aggressive Richardson scoring a 71-ball 37 to resist the pressure being applied by the Saints’ spinners. A late 14-ball cameo from Bilal (27) hastened the end of the game as the visitors reached their target with four overs to spare.
Woodlands go into their final game against Carlton knowing that they must rely on rivals New Farnley to beat Townville if they are to hope of ending the season in second place, otherwise third place will be their lowest league finish since 2018.
St Lawrence travel to already-relegated Baildon for their final game and a big victory there could still lift them up as high as 7th depending on other results, whereas a defeat could see them end in 10th.
Methley v Cleckheaton | |
Toss won by: Methley | |
1st Innings | 2nd Innings |
Cleckheaton 227ao (48.5 overs) | Methley 151ao (33.3 overs) |
Eitan Litvin 80* | Alex Cree 51 |
Max Chappell 40 | Taylor Cornall 30 |
Khizer Qadeer 39 | Muhammad Hafeez 3-1 |
Taylor Cornall 4-41 | Lachlan Doidge 3-52 |
Cleckheaton (19pts) bt Methley (6pts) by 76 runs
Full Scorecard |
Methley’s malaise hit new lows as they let slip a commanding position to lose their eighth consecutive game thanks to ex-Methley keeper Eitan Litvin and some excellent Cleckheaton bowling.Â
Winning the toss, skipper Jared Warner decided to put the visitors into bat and saw his decision reap some significant early rewards as Finlay Rooke removed Waleed Akhtar for 8 and then Yousaf Baber for a rare duck in the sixth over to leave Cleckheaton 15-2.
Ethan Lee did his utmost to preserve his wicket whilst Khizer Qadeer tried to counter attack in his inimitable stlyle – taking Rooke for three fours and two sixes in two overs. A double change of bowling to Ben Waite and Taylor Cornall saw Lee and next man Aaron Ratnaligam fall in consecutive overs, bringing Litvin to the crease at 55-4.
Cornall and Waite would surpass this feat six overs later as the former bowled Qadeer for 39 before the latter trapped Lachlan Doidge LBW in the next over and then Cornall would get opposing skipper James Stansfield out caught and bowled one over later. At this point Cleckheaton were 87-7 with 30 overs of the innings still remaining and the hosts were well on top and likely dreaming of an early finish.
However, that was the last wicket to fall for 14 overs, as Sam Peter joined Litvin and was able to start to rebuild the innings with a 54 run partnership. However, Cornall would prize out Peter with the final ball of the 34th over and the visitors were still well short of a good total. But once again the wickets dried up as number 10 Max Chappell combined with Litvin to attack Methley’s bowlers who were unable to respond.
The pair took the score to 225-8 with two overs to go before James Wainman, bowling only his third over of the innings, managed to get Chappell to offer a catch to Alex Cree and then dismiss last man Muhammad Hafeez to end the innings for the cost of just two more runs.
From 87-7 to getting up to 227 all out, Cleckheaton had all the confidence and momentum going into the break and knew that the hosts’ batting lineup has proven quite fragile during this losing spell. Opener Kris Ward’s rotten run of form continued as Lachlan Doidge had him caught for just two in the 4th over.
Cornall started positively from the other end with 30 from 31 balls but he pushed his luck too far and was caught by Ethan Lee to give Doidge his second victim in the 10th over. Alex Cree also tried to be positive and get ahead of the run rate, but he saw skipper Warner and Jake Smart both fall quickly to James Stansfield and suddenly Methley were 89-4 in the 15th over.
Cree reached his 50 (from 39 balls) with a four off Stansfield in the 19th over, but then gave Chappell his first wicket when he holed out to Doidge for 51 with the score on 112-5, still less than halfway to their target.
James Wainman became Dodige’s third victim when he offered a catch to Hafeez and after 24 overs the score was 127-6. Liam Thomas and Charlie McMurran threatened a rebuild as they resisted the next six overs for 16 runs but when Chappell had McMurran out caught in the 31st over, the innings went into a terminal decline. Hafeez was brought on to replace Doidge and he removed the last three wickets in the space of just 9 balls to end with dream figures of 3-1 and secure a 76-run victory for his side.
Methley end the season away at relegated Undercliffe desperately hoping to end this late season slide, knowing that another defeat could see them drop to 9th or even 10th if other results go against them. For a side that was second in the table only six games ago, that would be a real catastrophe. Cleckheaton, after sitting in 10th for 13 of the last 14 weeks, will host Jer Lane for their final game and a win could see them climb as high as seventh.
Carlton v Farsley | |
Toss won by: Carlton | |
1st Innings | 2nd Innings |
Farsley 128ao (31 overs) | Carlton 131-3 (28.3 overs) |
Joe Pocklington 58 | Farukh Alam 65* |
Nash Charles 4-15 | Naveed Malik 488 |
James Glynn 4-34 | |
Carlton (20pts) bt Farsley (2pts) by 8 wickets
Full Scorecard |
Carlton, buoyed by their quick win last week against Undercliffe before the rain hit, thoroughly thrashed an under-strength Fasley side to leapfrog them into fifth place with one game to go.Â
On a seam-friendly wicket, James Glynn decided to put the visitors in to bat first and that proved to be an excellent decision as his seam attack ran through Farsley’s lineup. Joe Pocklington was the only batter to significantly trouble the hosts with a 79-ball 58 including eight fours and two sixes, with only Stanley Brown (20) and extras (25) otherwise reaching double figures.
Opening bowlers Naveed Malik and Muhammad Tariq only shared one wicket between them but Tariq in particular was at times unplayable as he beat the bat or saw edges drop short of fielders. But when Glynn brought himself and Nash Charles on to bowl, the Farsley collapse truly began.
From 80-2, Farsley crumbled to 128 all out as both bowlers took four wickets in fiery spells. Charles bowled with some fearsome pace, most notably clean bowling the well-set Pocklington with an excellent delivery. Similar to the game two weeks ago versus Undercliffe, Farsley’s lower order was run through by fast, accurate bowling.
Carlton’s chase started sedately as Brown and Pocklington restricted run scoring and picked up three early wickets to leave the home side 48-3 in the 17th over. But that brought the dangerous Naveed Malik to the crease to join the hard-hitting Farukh Alam and the pair took on the bowling with relish, with Farsley’s top wicket taker this season Seamus Nazir coming in for particular punishment as he conceded 52 runs from five overs in their unbeaten 83-run partnership from 73 balls to see their side home to victory with 21.3 overs to spare.
Farsley host Bradford & Bingley for their final game of the season – a side who has already beaten them twice this season – as they try to cling on to a top-half spot. Carlton go to Woodlands in good spirits knowing a good result would keep them in the top five for the final standings – which would be an excellent performance for the newly-promoted side.

Jude Roberts 4-56 | |
Bradford & Bingley (19pts) bt Undeercliffe (4pts) by 5 wickets
Full Scorecard |
Bradford & Bingley overcame some stiffer resistance from bottom side Undercliffe to move up to fourth place with a five-wicket win at Wagon Lane.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Undercliffe’s innings started with a familiar pattern as openers Danish Hussain and Oliver Hardaker departed cheaply to leave their side 26-2 after 11 overs. Kyle Welsh and Suraj Singh ensured there was not a full-blown collapse as they chose to dig in against Bingley’s threatening attack.
While they gamely resisted for 11 overs without another dismissal, they could only muster 17 runs during that time as Bradley Reeve and James Swallow gave nothing away. To break this resistance, skipper Jacob Slator brought star bowler Udith Patabadige back into the attack and he obliged with the wicket of Welsh and new man Salman Hanif in consecutive balls.
Singh was joined by skipper Bailey Worcester and they held out for 14 overs together for a 39-run partnership before Singh advanced down the wicket to hit Reece Cockshott over the top, only to be smartly stumped by keeper Billy Whitford.
Worcester and Jude Roberts stepped things up a little with 50 runs coming from the next 10 overs before Roberts tried to ramp Patabadige and only succeeded in offering an easy catch to Whitford.
Amir Shahzad skied the same bowler to Whitford again in his next over and gave the Sri Lankan his 50th league wicket for the season. Worcester reached his fifty in the penultimate over with a single off Jack Hartley, ending the innings unbeaten of 53 from 83 deliveries.
Bingley’s reply got off to a rapid start as Whitford and Slater tore into Undercliffe’s seamers, taking 58 from the first 9 overs and another 12 from the next over bowled by Jude Roberts. In the 13th over, Whitford took Sunny Matharu’s first over for 18 and the hosts were 97-0 and racing to victory.
A three from the first ball of the next over brought up the century partnership before Whitford top edged a sweep off Roberts to Suraj Singh in the deep. Four overs later and the same bowler had Slator caught at long on by Worcester only to see new man Rishi Chopra hit him for two consecutive fours to take the score to 121-2 after 18 overs.
Roberts would pick up a third wicket when Chopra found long-off in the 22nd over, and then Matharu would bowl Callam Goldthorp in the 22nd to really slow Bingley’s momentum. Joe Pyrah and Matthew Swallow inched their side closer and closer to victory, getting to within 5 runs of victory before another top edged sweep saw Pyrah give Roberts a final consolation wicket before the last runs were scored three balls later.
Bingley travel to Farsley for their final game of the season, hoping to cement their spot in fourth place. Undercliffe host a reeling Methley side and will hope to give their home fans one last positive memory from an otherwise poor season.

Yeadon kept alive their outside hopes of promotion as they turned party poopers by defeating leaders Pudsey Congs and delaying their Division One championship celebrations.
Adeel Ashraf held the key to Yeadon’s two-wicket win which was sealed with four balls to spare. He set the tone for the afternoon by trapping Congs opener Callum Oliver lbw with the first ball of the game.
Buoyed by that early breakthrough he went on to reduce the leaders to 53-6 on his way to impressive figures of 6-42.
The experienced duo of Nick Lindley and Matthew Duce steadied the ship with a stand of 50. Lindley stood firm until the end of the innings and was 71 not out when Congs were bowled out for 151 in 44 overs.
