North Wales Premier Division – Defeats for St Asaph and Mochdre in North Wales Premier League – Bangor back top

Bangor (18) 101-10 St Asaph (7) 95-8

Bangor claimed top spot in the Premier Division after inflicting a first defeat of the season on St Asaph.

In a match reduced to 22 overs per side because of rain, the Citizens posted 101 all out off 19.4 overs, David Winter top-scoring with 31 off 27 balls, hitting five fours.

Danny Ryan starred with the ball for Saints, taking 5-14 off 3.4.

Asaph looked to be cruising in reply on 47-0, but collapsed to 95-8 by the time the overs ran out.

Franco Kasner took 2-9, Smit Parekh 2-13 and Joe Maltby 2-18.

Bethesda (5) 189-3 Gwersyllt Park (18) 207-4

Skipper Carwyn L Williams provided Bethesda’s best moment of the season so far with an unbeaten century, but his heroics finished up in a losing cause.

Pesda won the toss and batted, making 183-9 off a reduced 45 overs, opener Williams ending 113 not out, hitting 15 fours and a six.

In reply, Gwersyllt reached their target of 207 off 42.3, Jake James cracking 87 off 86 balls, smashing six sixes and four boundaries, skipper Jamie Griffiths (37 no) and Lewis Cole (33 no) guiding the visitors home with an unbroken fifth-wicket stand of 49.

Andrew Day claimed 3-30 for Bethesda, whose performances at the higher level are steadily improving.

Conwy (3) 116-10 Brymbo (18) 233-7

Brymbo’s mighty effort of 233-7 off 50 overs was always going to be too much for hosts Conwy.

Calling the coin correctly and choosing to bat, the Steelmen’s chief contributors were Chris Taylor (66), Henry Lunn (38) and Johandre Barnard (37).

Tom Plank scooped an impressive 4-34 for the hosts.

In reply, Conwy were dismissed for 116, new signing Lalmon TV making 40, Ralf Fernando 3-16, Adam De Rycke 2-12, Joe Norman 2-16 and Jack Williams 2-27.

Menai Bridge (18) 145-2 Denbigh (3) 143-10

An eight-wicket victory for Bridge, whose classy batting line up was never going to struggle making 144 to win.

Put into bat, Denbigh were bowled out for 143 in 38.5 overs, Marko Van Voorst best by far with 59, while for the hosts, Dion Owen pocketed 3-18, Patrick Glover 3-28 and Ashley Wood 2-28.

The islanders needed just 24.1 overs to reach 145-2, Ayash Verma 54 not out, Dion Holden 40 no and Carl Jones 30. Verma and Holden put on an unbeaten stand of 80 for the third wicket to seal the honours.

Champions Mochdre were beaten by 13 runs at home to Northop.
