Structure changes coming in Lincolnshire & Surrey

From Surrey Cricket . . .

The Surrey Cricket League, Surrey County League and Surrey Championship recently held EGM/SGMs in order to vote on motions to dissolve their current leagues in favour of creating a new league. These motions were all passed which means the Surrey Cricket Championship will be created, with its inaugural season in 2025.

As a result they have opened the window for new clubs to apply to join this new league for 2025.

From Lincolnshire Cricket . . .

Following a single league meeting/vote on in Lincoln, Lincs Cricket are pleased a conclusive majority understands why they have embarked on this piece of work to change the league landscape & voted in favour of transitioning to a single league for Saturday cricket from the 2026 season.

The results of the vote were as follows:

Lincolnshire County Cricket League member clubs – 19 for; 5 against
South Lincs & Border League member clubs – 15 for; 1 against
Clubs with their 1st XI currently in the ECB Premier League – 11 for; 1 against

The divisional make-up of the league was then voted for, with Option 1 (a countywide Premier Division at the top of the pyramid and 5 tiers overall) the preferred option by 24 votes to 16.

This means they will now move to the next stage of the process, which includes working with key stakeholders to build a constitution for the new league, advertise and promote positions for the Management Committee and support existing leagues to dissolve efficiently following the 2025 season.
