Joining us most weeks in order to bring some ‘balance’ to our website and content will be our friend Liv, the founder of Livstyle Lifestyle – a little corner of the internet where she shares the highs, the lows and the downright ridiculous moments of life as a self-proclaimed cricket widow – hence The Cricket Widows Club!
From the double header weekends, to the 3 hour post-match analysis. This is where Liv documents the chaos, the laughs and everything in between. If you or your partner knows the feeling of planning life around a fixtures list, you’re in the right place!

Cricket is Back and so are we – and you’ve got homework!
Cricket Season Is Back!
If your other half didn’t have a pre-season match last weekend… brace yourself, because it’s here! And if you’ve somehow got another Saturday together- hold it close, soak it up, make it count. You’re one of the lucky ones. For now.

Apologies for the recent silence on the cricket widow front- we threw a full-blown family party/birthday bonanza just because… why not? Friendship, fun, and dancing around the cricket-shaped hole in our calendars. But don’t worry, I’m back in the boundary-side trenches with you for the foreseeable months.
We’ve actually been spoiled, haven’t we? Over 1 month of glorious sunshine before the season started- what is this?! I’ve been out here doing normal summery things with T like we’re a regular couple. I KNOW. Wild. We even had a few weekends that we could drive around and take in our surroundings rather than being the captive audience to a 45 minute post-match dissection. Bliss.
To anyone who isn’t a CW (Cricket Widow): yes, we’re getting soppy over doing “nothing” together. No, we don’t want to spend every second with them. But come May? We don’t even get that choice. Our other halves disappear into a world of whites, wickets and very detailed match debriefs. And we’re left trying to remember what weekends without cricket look like. (Spoiler: they don’t exist anymore.)
Honestly, I kept having to say to myself, “Liv, this ends next week!” And then… BAM.. there it is! Season starts. Saturdays are gone. Sundays too. The dream is over. And suddenly, we’re back in that lonely little spin cycle of plans, pick-me-ups, and pretending we love solo walks that last for hours.
It hits hard every year. You think you’re ready, but you never really are. Even 9 years in, it still takes me by surprise. That first match weekend slaps harder than a dodgy LBW call. You forget just how little you see them. The start of the season is 100% the toughest- before you remember how to function without a plus-one and learn to rebuild your personality by June.
In the early days, I’d spiral. Every. Single. Weekend.
“Am I being dramatic?”
“Is this normal?”
“Why do I feel single but also… not?”
Because that’s the real kicker. You’re not single. You’ve got a partner- you just never see them. It’s not that you love them any less… it’s just that sometimes, you also want to yell a little bit. And that’s okay.
The questions come thick and fast:
Can I really do this forever?
Is it always going to be like this?
Is it bad to slightly wish for rain every Saturday?
The truth? Yes, it is always like this. No, you’re not mad. And yes, we’re all in this together!
So this year, we are not slipping quietly into the season like a well-worn picnic blanket!

We are swinging into it CW-style! And you lot you’ve got homework. I’m officially launching the CW “Break the Bat In” Challenge – the only Easter tradition that involves sneakily ‘borrowing’ your other half’s precious bat, pairing it with a solid chocolate egg, and whacking it like it just bowled you middle stump.
It’s therapeutic, it’s seasonal, and let’s be honest – you deserve it. Bonus points for dramatic slow-mo, boundary-line commentary, or mid-swing giggles.
Tag me in your videos @livstylelifestyle and let’s fill the feed with CW chaos!
Now go forth and whack it, widows- it’s what pre-seasons really about.
