Northern Premier League Week 3 Results Round Up

The Northern Premier League Wk3 results are reviewed below, highlighting the standout performances around the league.

The rain ripped through Northern Cricket League Division One and Two on a miserable afternoon of cricketing action where a small number of games were played.

In Division One, the only game to be completed saw Fulwood & Broughton defeat Longridge by 5 wickets in a 27 over aside game. Longridge batting first were restricted to 129-6 with Lewis Wellings returning figures of 3-38 while Zac Christie top scored with 32 off 42 balls with Tom Howarth closing an undefeated 30 off 23.
However Fulwood & Broughton knocked the runs off in 25.1 overs with Ewan Mansfords 46 off 25 as well as James McWilliam’s undefeated 25 off 21 balls proving to be the difference.
The game between Chorley and Settle was also rained off, however Chorley managed to get a rain reduced 25 overs in during the first innings with Miller Childs posting an undefeated 92 off 80 balls. Settle replied on 56-2 off 7-4 overs during the second innings before the game was eventually
abandoned following on from further rain.

In Division Two Carlisle defeated Barrow by 4 wickets, Barrow closed on 93-8 of 28 overs with Nico Watt returning figures of 4-28, before Carlisle edged to victory after Tom Benn scored 30 while Alex Raybould (10), Michael Slack (11) and Brodie Glendinning (16) all scored crucial runs with Carlisle
closing on 94-6 off 23.4 overs.
Great Eccleston were also victorious following their 5 wicket win against Thornton Cleveleys in another rain affected game. Thornton Cleveleys posted 113-8 off 20 overs with Kai Collinge top scoring with 39 off 28 balls while Alexander Rhodes returned figures of 3-17 for Great Eccleston. Great Eccleston knocked the runs off in 16.3 overs with Mohamed Nadeem’s 29 off 31 and Mohammed Fazils undefeated 25 off 23 balls guiding the hosts to victory.
St Anne’s clinched a much needed 9 wicket win against Carnforth, Rory Urquharts first innings return of 4-24 reduced Carnforth to 84-7 before Lukman Vahaluwalas undefeated 36 off 33 balls and Luke Jardines undefeated 23 off 16 saw St Anne’s to victory as they closed on 85 for 1 off 11.1 overs.
Euxton closed with five points as the rain wiped out their game against Mawdesley, however Euxton posted 198-4 off 30 overs with James Bone scoring an undefeated 67 off 58 balls. Mawdesley got to 66-4 off 18.4 overs in their reply before the rain prevented any more play as the game was abandoned with Fyffe Dennis scoring 28 off 54 balls while Aneeq Hassan posted 23 off 48 balls.
Joseph Barker and James Bone both claimed two wickets apiece with Barker finishing on figures of 2-14 while Bone closed on a return of 2-16.
The game between Penwortham and Vernon Carus was also abandoned, although Vernon Carus closed on 121-9 off a rain reduced 20 overs with Ian Dunn scoring 26 off 34 balls. Nathan Walmsley returned impressive figures for Penwortham after he closed on figures of 7-38 off 6 overs.
Penwortham could only get 1.3 overs in their reply before the rain prevented any play as Vernon
Carus finished with 5 points while Penwortham closed on 4.
