NETHERFIELD STRETCH THEIR LEAD AT THE TOP OF DIVISION ONEÂ
DIVISION ONE
NETHERFIELD VS ST ANNESÂ
The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first, Reece Irving and Richard Everett put on 35 for the first wicket. A beauty of a delivery by Harry Birkman broke the partnership as the ball cannoned into the middle stump.
Irivng and Ben Barrow produced what in the end was a match winning partnership of 192 runs. Scoring quickly, the total raced past 200 and despite Barrow falling short of his century on 91, Irving went to his maiden century which included 13 fours and two maximums. Zain Abbas dismissed the opener on 105 which led the way for John Huck and Dushan Vimukthi to entertain the crowd. The latter whacked 32 off 20 balls to take Netherfield past 300 and set St Annes a mammoth 315 for victory.
Abbas and Ashton Charles began in pursuit of 315 and started well, the former playing the aggressor as the pair musted 85 for the first wicket. Josh Wills broke the stand and dismissed Luke Jardine without scoring as Oli Wileman also picked up a wicket seeing the back of Evan Dobson for 9.
The required run rate was increasing and the wickets were tumbling. Vimuthki and Wileman proving too good for the middle order and despite Adam Patel smashing 75 off 57 balls it wasn’t enough for relegation threatened St Annes. The bowling duo secured four wickets a piece to wrap up a convincing win by 71 runs to stretch their lead at the top of the table to 12 points.
BLACKPOOL VS SETTLEÂ
Settle made the trip to the seaside to face Blackpool, a side who still believed in winning Division One. Alex Ryder and Khalil Patel were tremendous with the ball getting two wickets each to limit the visitors to 40-4. It’s been a tough season for the Settle batters and when only Gautam Waghela could make it to double figures, top scoring with 39 another defeat was on the cards. Ockert Eramsus and Joshua Boyne got two wicket each as well and when the last two wickets were run outs, Settle were bundled out for exactly 100.
Joe Waterhouse was run out without facing trying to come back for the second run and when Dylan Henshall was trapped LBW by Harry Snowden, the scoreboard read 13-2. However, Andrew Needham and Ockert Erasmus made no trouble chasing down the remaining 88 runs, the latter finishing unbeaten on 56 whilst Needham made 33*. A comfortable win for Blackpool by eight wickets.
CARLISLE VS KENDALÂ
Louis Backhouse was on target three times to get Kendal off to flying start and Matt Jackson got the wicket of Zephania Arinaitwe (18) to reduce the hosts to 25-4. Matthew Brown and Calum Rowe recovered the innings rotating the strike well and taking the score past 100. Lowerhouse man and Lancashire second team head coach, Daniel Salpietro (4-38) ran through the middle to lower order to limit the hosts to just 131 after being 115-4. Rowe top scored with 51 but after all the hard work him and Brown did in the middle overs, it was a disappointing collapse by the Cumbrian side.
Darren Nightingale and Max Winskill opened the batting, and both were run out in chaotic fashion. Michael Slack and Nico Watt bowled well and got their reward to see Kendal in trouble at 69-5. Finlay Richardson struck 51 but when he was caught by Alex Raybould and Watt and Rowe combined for a wicket each, Kendal still required nine to win with two wickets left. Freddie Fallows and Chris Miller made sure their side would go to 12 important points to give Kendal some breathing room from the drop zone.

CHORLEY VS LEYLANDÂ
It was a watchful start for the openers from Chorley. Harry Barclay two off 39 balls and Miller Childs 13 off 56 balls as Liam Hurt and Luke Hands didn’t give anything away. A change of bowling saw the back of Barclay as Andrew Jacques dismissed the host’s captain. Geeth Kumara top scored with 48, but Hurt was his undoing two short of his 50. Sam Oldham and Karl Cross secured two wickets each but most of the runs conceded by the Leyland bowlers were coming off extras, 48 in total including 15 penalty runs saw Chorley make 198-8 off 48 overs.
Reiss Carrington and Xander Eyre both were out cheaply and when Edwin Moulton got Lloyd Tennant for 16 it was game on. Sam Oldham powered his way to 65, but Luca Doyle was his downfall and the middle orders. Four wickets for Doyle and four for Steeple saw a collapse by the Leyland batters as they were bowled out 53 runs short of victory.
LONGRIDGE V GARSTANGÂ
Longridge found it tough with that bat after winning the toss, regular wickets hampered their progress as bowling duo of Cory Cater and Lahiru Madushanka were brilliant once again. Six early wickets shared between the pace duo saw Longridge in a heap at 71-6. Alex Mason struck eight boundaries in making 35 but Madushanka and Cater secured one more wicket each to end with 4-49 and 4-50 respectively. Ian Walling joined in on the action with two wickets of his own dismissing Joe Lyth and Mason to see Longridge bundled out for 129.
Despite the home side bowlers taking four wickets, they weren’t taken quick enough to damage Garstang’s run chase of 130. Michael Walling made 20, Madushanka 26 not out and Walling finished the game off with a cameo of 12 off six balls. A six-wicket victory inside 33 overs saw Garstang jump to fourth in the table.
